Lobular carcinoma is extremely rare in men due to the minimal development of glandular breast tissue.

Diagnosis of male breast cancer relies on a multimodal approach including physical examination, imaging, and histological analysis.
Digital mammography is a key tool for identifying suspicious masses. Breast tomosynthesis (3D mammography) provides layer-by-layer reconstruction of breast tissue, reducing structural overlap and improving diagnostic sensitivity.
According to the American College of Radiology guidelines, mammography is recommended as a first-line imaging modality in adult patients with suspected male breast disease (ACR / PubMed).
Importance of early diagnosis
Early detection has a major impact on prognosis. According to National Cancer Institute data, the 5-year survival rate is:
- approximately 95% for localized disease
- about 84% with lymph node involvement
- around 20% in metastatic disease (NCI)
