Contrast Enhancement Visualization (CEV) imaging modality is now available for Helianthus and Helianthus DBT digital systems (UE Certificate no. 046/MDR).
Deriving from digital mammography, Contrast Enhancement Visualization (CEV) is able to overcome limitations in discriminating between tumor and background tissue.
The Technique
This procedure, which combines a two-shot mammography X-ray examination with the administration of iodinated contrast medium, is becoming increasingly popular as a means of accurately diagnosing breast cancer, exhibiting a higher level of sensitivity even when compared to tomosynthesis and ultrasounds.
At the end of the acquisition, the algorythm automatically produces a differential image, subtracted between the low and the high energy images. This realeased image allows to visualize contrast enhancements on tumor tissues, exploiting their improved contrast absorption.
